My summer trip!
This summer I went to back to my hometown Kuwait, for a month and to Barcelona for two weeks! I had the best time in Kuwait enjoying some company from my friends and family back home. When it was time for me to leave I really didn't want to come back to London. My parents knew I didn't want to go back to London so they surprised me by telling me we’re going to Barcelona, after they told me we were going to Barcelona I was so happy that I didn't really want to stay in Kuwait much longer! Four days later, we came back to London to store our luggages and packed our bags for Barcelona! The next day we went to the airport to catch our flight for Barcelona. I was a very happy because It wasn't far, it was just two hours away. When we arrived the weather was very nice, it was hot and sunny. We took a cab and went to our hotel, called Le Meridian Hotel, it was amazing it had the best service. The staff and people were very nice and polite. When we arrived at the hotel we changed our Clothes, went out for lunch then walked around Las Rambles street which is the center of Barcelona. The first week there we were just walking around and exploring new places like going to cruises in the sea and to the aquarium and we went to the beach but mostly we walked around the city. The second week there we went to the beach again and went to see a flamenco show it was amazing the moods there just made me happy! We went to a Resturant called "Tapas Tapas", by the sea and there paellas we’re the best! On the last full day we went to a place we’re there was all pictures and paintings kind of like a photo gallery but it’s for you to take a picture with it We were supposed to stay in Barcelona for one week but we loved it so much that we stayed for an extra week! - Lulu (MYP1) |

Top 10 songs.
1. Sigala - 'Easy Love'. “This is so amazing. I had no idea this would ever be a Number 1 record. I wrote this song in my bedroom on a Sunday evening after a couple of beers. I had no idea it would go to the top of the charts!” - Sigala 2. Justin Bieber - 'What Do You Mean?' ‘What Do You Mean’ is an uptempo song,” he said. “It’s actually perfect for summer, even though summer’s just ending. I had the best time recording it, I had the best time recording my album.” - Justin Bieber 3. Calvin Harris & Disciples - 'How Deep Is Your Love". “This is my first time I collaborating with someone and It’s was really good and I made it from playing DJ in las vegas to playing in studios” -Calvin Harris 4. Galantis - 'Peanut Butter Jelly'. "We believed in it – strongly, and there were some people that didn’t really believe in it so we had to push hard for it because we really wanted to put it out, and finally we got to do it. We felt like it sounded really Galantis and the few fans we had from the EP would probably enjoy it, so that’s why we really wanted to put it out, but we didn’t know it was going to be that much of a crossover and get like hundreds or millions of streams; it’s really amazing" -Galantis 5. Rachel Platten - 'Fight Song'. "I wrote 'Fight Song' at a real low moment of feeling like, 'Should I quit?'" - Rachel Platten6. Charlie Puth feat. Meghan Trainor" -'Marvin Gaye' 6. Charlie Puth- "Marvin Gaye." “I was at this coffee place on Cahuenga [Boulevard] in Hollywood, and I just started tapping my foot and clapping along, and that's the drum beat on "Marvin Gaye." Meghan and I was at a party one night, and we were exchanging new music, and she heard” "Marvin Gaye" and asked, "Who else is singing on this? It should be a duet. Let me sing on it!" So I'm like … OK, Meghan Trainor just asked me to sing on my song, absolutely! In one day, she knew the whole thing. We did it all in one take.” -Charlie Puth 7. The Weeknd - 'Can't Feel My Face “All of my music is honest. When I write, I write about my surroundings. Sometimes it’s light and sometimes it gets very dark. With this album I’ve learned to balance them out and evolve my sound.” -The Weekend. 8. Jess Glynne - 'Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself' "I'm very emotional today," I can't tell you how much it all means to me. This song is quite a special one for me "It comes from somewhere deep and it's one of those songs that helped me get through what I have been going through this summer."Everyone goes through hard times. Stuff happens in people's lives that aren't so great. I guess it was a bit of therapy for myself." -Jess Glynne 9. Felix Jaehn feat. Jasmine Thompson - 'Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) “I never thought I would get to this” -Felix Jaehn 10. Nero - 'Two Minds’’ “The track is very different from the dark, bombastic, electro, synth-pop ballads that they have been writing for the album. It is much more stripped down and reminiscent of the 1990s house music that Nero probably grew up with as youngsters.” -Nero |
These songs that I have chosen are the top ten this month. And I personally like the songs I picked! The sources i've looked at to gather the information on these songs are: KISS FM, CAPITAL and YOUTUBE. -Lulu (MYP1)

The pictures (below):
Were taken on Wednesday 23 September 2015 (Lunch B), during a series of rough rallies of Ping Pong. The boys were getting a bit too competitive to win and stay on (in a positive sense). However, Ahmed Alcardanoi (MYP4) was in the lead, as he won most of the matches and stayed on to play against other players. Shot by/written: Abdelrahman Ahmed (MYP4)

DID YOU KNOW?
Note: Mind blowing facts are spared in this article. This information will get you engrossed and leave you in awe. These are the monthly scoops of ‘did-you-know’s that you might want to try later on.
This fact was proven right a long time ago by several colour psychologists. According to Walter Graff - - an American lecturer in the psychology of colour department - he states,
“Colour has an incredible effect on your mood, your perception and individual’s likes and dislikes. It’s programmed into your brain in order to help you to survive. It’s what makes you instinctively know that fire is bad, red is danger, and green is comforting.”
What he was trying to deliver is that colours holds a tremendous amount of authority in our brain. It is one of humanity’s adaptation to react subconsciously towards different shades of colours that are in our environment. Restaurants use this fact as an important weapon in luring customers into purchasing their food. No wonder so many fast food restaurants had an unnecessarily bright and clashing colours in their sign.
- Vibrant and warm colours like green, yellow, red or orange makes you hungry

Feeling hungry yet? I know I am! Just thinking about those mouth-watering food they serve makes me want to grab my jacket and fulfill my needs!
- Watching horror films could burn up to 200 calories - - same as a half an hour walk - - in one person
This fact was clearly proven by the professors in the University of Westminster through an investigation consisting of 10 people. Those participants were asked to watch a selection of classic, nerve-wrecking horror films while scientists observe the amount of oxygen intake and how much energy they used during the investigation. The following image is the result of the investigation conducted.
Needless to say, the more the gore, the more fat you burned. So, turn off the lights, gather up some pillows, snacks, call for the pizza and get this horror movie marathon / workout over with!

Short Story.Little Tree House - short story.
1673. (the following story might be disturbing to some people. Viewers / readers must be 13 years old and above.
There was a little house standing high up a willow tree, hidden amongst the inhabitants of a misty forest near a town called ‘Swallow Peak’. It is the only threat known in this particular town after a boy named Thomas disappeared while playing ‘Catch the Thief’ with his friends under the tree house. His mother - - widow Gallagher - - began to question her son’s whereabouts when he didn’t return for supper, therefore, she informed the chief about her worries. The whole town searched through the woods while calling out “Thomas!" hoping to find this mischievous boy who was in for a scolding. Sadly, he was never found.
His mother began to drown herself in grief for her son’s loss. Several months after Thomas’ disappearance, his mother was found dead with her body hanging lifelessly on the very treehouse. Her empty eyes were wide open, staring at the grass beneath her while tear stains traced her face like a long lost treasure map. What makes this wretched event appalling was the bloody phrase that was carved on widow Gallagher’s arms which reads ‘Praise thee, the one who gives and takes, for I beg a curse to this very world. Souls who knew shall serve thou for the reincarnation of my child. Pray, you shall take this soul as sacrifice’. Since the horrifying tragedy, stories regarding this little house were told to the younger ones who told their children and future generations. Multiple versions of the tragedy were told to mask the real truth about the secrets that the house held. This little treehouse still stands, even in this year. Now you know the real truth. Now you shall serve them as sacrifice. He will come to claim you. Beware, beware. By: Batrisyia (MYP3)

Book Review.11 year old Jonas lives safely within the community, a place without war, hunger, poverty, difference, pain and problems but it's also a world without love, decisions and freedom. It's a world of "sameness" built upon structure and order. Where nothing is private, not even your dreams and emotions and everyone dressed and behave the same. Every person is assigned a role in the community when they turn 12 years old. Jonas is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory. Which means he will receive all the knowledge and memories of true pain and pleasure of the time before the "sameness". In the process he discovers the dark secrets that he's perfect world harbours. Secrets that will force Jonas to make a decision that will change everything.
I thought that the book was an enjoyable, easy read but at the same time it raises important questions about the price of happiness, freedom, knowledge and how much one is willing to sacrifice to live in a world without pain, sadness and loneliness. The book also states the importance of adversity, different opinions and freedom of speech. I thought the protagonist Jonas, was likeable and had the perfect amount of sympathy, integrity, courage and introspection. The book was thought-provoking and made me really think and question how a perfect world would look like. I recommend this book for everyone that’s older than 11 years old, since it contains one scene of violence and mild sexual references.

DIY: Leaf Tea Light Jar
This DIY is a nice way to decorate your room in the fall time. It is very simple and doesn’t require many materials.
Materials: · Artificial Leaves · Mod Podge · Paint brush · Tea light · Twine or raffia Step 1: Apply some mod podge to the jar. Step 2: Place the leaf where desired Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you are pleased with how it looks. Step 4: Leave mod podge to dry Step 5: Tie some twine or raffia around the top. Step 6: place your tea light in the jar Questions you may have. - How long should, I leave the mod podge to dry? It should dry to the touch in an hour and will dry completely in 24hrs. - What is raffia ribbon? Raffia ribbon is a type of ribbon made from stripped Palm trees. How to make mod podge at home: - To make your own mod podge you will need water and glue. It is very simple, all you need to do is Mix the water and glue together in a 1:1 ratio. How to make dried leaves at home: To make dried leaves at home you will need leaves, large books and newspapers. - Collect leaves that do not have any defects. Avoid leaves that are already dry because they may be too brittle to handle the process. -Take first large book and place newspaper on top. - Open newspaper and place the leaves flat.do not overlay leaves. - Place another large book on top and repeat the process of aslant times as necessary. - After 2 weeks the leaves should be completely dry. *TIP* Avoid using glossy books like magazines as they do not absorb the moisture out of the leaves. I think this project is a very simple and creative DIY because you don't need a lot of materials to create it and it is a great addition to any room. I chose it because fall is soon upon us and it incorporates something very common in fall, leaves. I was first introduced to this project when looking in Pinterest, a photo sharing website and application. I thought it was a perfect DIY for fall. I have never done this project before but would love to because of its simplicity and how beautiful the outcome is. The only possible con of this project is if you were making the dried leaves at home because of the amount of time it takes. Overall, I recommend trying this DIY.
Age restriction: Children from the age of 6 can make this project ONLY with adult supervision (because of the use of glass).

It's finally the end of the week, and so is the end of our creativity. It is that lazy day when the only thing we can think about is the weekend. So why not end the week with a simple black and white friday? There is no way to get it wrong. Black is the most popular and the most convenient colour, and for me it is the most elegant of all.
After trying a couple of outfits on friday, I decided to wear my favourite black ripped jeans, with a black and white stripped shirt. Since I am short, I feel more comfortable wearing either heels or platforms, so I figured “why not wear black platforms”. To give a touch of my personality and a little bit of colour I wore my blue heart necklace. And here is how it turned out: |
Paul Louis (MYPP2) thought alike, as he decided to wear a black shirt and black trousers. But even in black clothes he was able to show his unique personality through the white details on his shirt. And his white modern Givenchy shoes give a sophisticated touch to his outfit. So if you are one of those lazy people who want those five extra minutes when they wake up, a black and white outfit is the perfect match for you. By : Giulia (MYP3) |
