London Underground: Driverless Trains is the new generation of the underground
On Thursday the 9th of November, Boris Johnson unveiled the new version of the London Underground. The new carriages will be fully air conditioned, it will provide wider doors and passengers will be able to walk through carriages. Trains are going to be drive less, this is a huge addition and it shows how technology is adducing. The new models will be in service in 2022. In my opinion, I would like to say, that in our generation we are all trying to do everything with the use of technology. I beleive that having driverless trains will have the disadvantge of leaving many people without jobs. The employees that work on the London underground were given the right to go on strike and fight for their job and for their future careers. The Tories claim that not having any underground employees driving the trains could save up £141 million a year in wages. If I had to find a solution for the employees, I would say that they could fight for their cause and that they could fight to keep their job. The employees could protest and make people vote in order to see what people in society really want and to see if it is ethical to dis-employ underground staff in order to get drive less trains. A belgian chaos:
Thursday has been the peak of a week full of tensions in Belgium. Due to a recently elected government taking new measures that will only affect the poorer belgians. People went down the streets of Brussel to protest. Approximately 100000 protesters were present and a generalised strike in the whole country, lucky for the students that stayed at home. Unfortunately, this protest has shown sides of Belgium that aren’t nice to show to the public and to the world. Damages and a police that didn’t know how to react against a crowd of angry protesters would be the description of what was supposed to be a “peaceful protest”. Many were arrested but many are still free. I find it interesting to see what is happening in my country, as I am from Belgium. Going back to the main idea of the article, only a small percentage of the protestors came there to fight and to damage equipments like cars from the inhabitants of Brussel. Unfortunately, only the bad side of the protest will be retained and not the initial purpose which was: “The measures you will take will only make us poorer and poorer”. By: Tom (DP 2) |

Recently in the news is golf star Patrick Reed, who was caught foul-mouthing after a missed putt on the green during the WGC-HSBC Championships event in Shanghai. He recently starred for America in the Ryder Cup where he lost to Europe and was again caught swearing at the camera. Does Reed need to tone down the cursing? Looks like we will find out seeing as he is going to be playing in future events!

Replicas of Rainbow Looms contain Carcinogens:
Choon Ng invented the Rainbow loom, the rainbow looms took the United States then it took to the United Kingdom, everyone even mom’s, kids and boys are making bracelets and so many creations on the rainbow loom. Choon Ng's invention grew even more popular that some of other toy companies decides to do replicas. Safety has been an issue though, a british laboratory found that some kind of material in most of the illegal knockoff replicas is harmful containing cancer-causing chemicals. However, the original rainbow loom don’t have those chemicals By: Mariam A little scenario Kenzy: When I first heard about this I was kind of scared. I had just found out that my loom was a knockoff. 75% of me believed that it might contain cancer. 25% of me was like there has got to be something wrong here. To tell you the truth, I don't really know what to think and what to do because I really love my Rainbow Looms. Miranda: I am sure that it was a publicity stunt so that the profit gain of the rainbow loom increases. I asked my mom because truthfully I was confused myself as well. My mom gave an example of where there were two perfumes (Perfume 1 & Perfume 2). They were exactly the same so then somebody started rumors about perfume 1 and so people would buy perfume 2. Kenzy: I kind of disagreed because the rainbow loom is really well known by everyone and sells a lot. So why go through all of this process and propaganda? In a way, it does makes sense Miranda. Thank You for your opinion, I will take it into consideration. Some definitions to help you understand better: Carcinogens: A cancer-causing chemical. Fashion Police
Take a style lesson from Teresa (MYP5) whom even though it was raining today rocked her OOTD with this sunflower scarf and the matching yellow boots which kind of tell us hold on spring is almost here! The scarf and the boots make this outfit pop which is the best when it is raining, here is something to smile about with this colors! Teresa did not put too much colors though which is good because too much colors would have ruined the effect of the scarf and the boots. to go with the scarf and the boots she had a dark grey and black jacket, a white top and a leather trousers which make the whole outfit on point |
Watch out for Arthus (MYP3) outfit of the day. Arthus was wearing a black long sleeved t-shirt, a black pair of jeans and some white Stan Smith sneakers which make the outfit pop because it is the only thing white on his outfit. Arthus also wore a short sleeved black shirt with some colored features such as a monkey and some typos. Arthus was also wearing a cap which was the final touch to his outfit plus it kind of matches the colors of his t-shirt.Another outfit that tells us that spring is coming! i think Arthus has done a great job pulling up this outfit especially with the necklace which is kind of discreet but adds up a lot to this outfit. |
