Four fixtures left in most of the leagues in Europe. This time of the season is the most important because this is when the teams are under pressure because one mistake could cause a lot. There are teams that are fighting for the league; others are trying to secure a place which would qualify them to a European tournament. Then finally we have team who are fighting to stay in the league and not relegate to the second division. In the champions league four teams reached the semi-final, the team are FC Barcelona , FC Bayern , Real Madrid and Juventus.

Seria A (Italian League)
Juventus needs a few points to ensure their league title for the fourth time in a row. This would be their 31st league title. The Rivals Lazio and Roma are fighting for the second position so they could qualify to champions’ league without playing qualification matches. Ac Milan and Inter Milan are both going trough a tough season, Inter improved throughout the league but Milan stayed the same and did not improve at all although they started the league well. Only five games left for all teams.

Apple Pie.
IngredientsFor the filling
By: Libbi (MYP1)
IngredientsFor the filling
- 1kg Bramley apples
- 140g golden caster sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp flour
- 225g butter, room temperature
- 50g golden caster sugar, plus extra
- 2 eggs
- 350g plain flour, preferably organic
- Put a layer of paper towels on a large baking sheet. Quarter, core, peel and slice the apples about 5mm thick and lay evenly on the baking sheet. Put paper towels on top and set aside while you make and chill the pastry.
- For the pastry, beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl until just mixed. Break in a whole egg and a yolk (keep the white for glazing later). Beat together for just under 1 min – it will look a bit like scrambled egg. Now work in the flour with a wooden spoon, a third at a time, until it’s beginning to clump up, then finish gathering it together with your hands. Gently work the dough into a ball, wrap in cling film, and chill for 45 mins. Now mix the 140g/5oz sugar, the cinnamon and flour for the filling in a bowl that is large enough to take the apples later.
- After the pastry has chilled, heat the oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Lightly beat the egg white with a fork. Cut off a third of the pastry and keep it wrapped while you roll out the rest, and use this to line a pie tin – 20-22cm round and 4cm deep – leaving a slight overhang. Roll the remaining third to a circle about 28cm in diameter. Pat the apples dry with kitchen paper, and tip them into the bowl with the cinnamon-sugar mix. Give a quick mix with your hands and immediately pile high into the pastry-lined tin.
- Brush a little water around the pastry rim and lay the pastry lid over the apples pressing the edges together to seal. Trim the edge with a sharp knife and make 5 little slashes on top of the lid for the steam to escape. (Can be frozen at this stage.) Brush it all with the egg white and sprinkle with caster sugar. Bake for 40-45 mins, until golden, then remove and let it sit for 5-10 mins. Sprinkle with more sugar and serve while still warm from the oven with softly whipped cream.

Movie reviews.
THE 6 WORST SUPERHERO MOVIES (and one extra movie that’s simply a disaster)
A harsh and slightly bitter review, this week I waste my time watching awful movies so that you don’t have to.
A harsh and slightly bitter review, this week I waste my time watching awful movies so that you don’t have to.
6. Man of Steel (2013) This movie made Forbes list of the Worst Films of 2013, and it rightfully earned that ranking. This movie might have been bearable if it wasn’t 2 hours and 23 minutes long. The action scenes were dull and the plot seemed thrown together last minute. This movie had very mixed reviews, and the effects were ok, making it one of the better films on this list. (No clip available due to the fact that it was not really certain scenes that made this movie bad, but the movie as a whole) |
5. Spiderman 3 (2007) Widely acknowledged as a bad movie, it was a general disappointment. Even the director, Sam Raimi agrees that it was awful. This movie was awarded the honor of being on Empire’s ‘Worst Movies Ever ‘ list, ranking in at number 50. It’s faults can be attributed to the fact that it was trying to be too many things at once (there were too many villains, forced drama, and a plot that 9 year old me couldn’t follow at all, and 16 year old me can’t really follow it either). Also, Spiderman was really angsty throughout the entire movie. But not in a cool Batman-esque way. In a whiney highschooler way. Also he didn’t have his spidey sense. Which to me is the most important part of the character. And we certainly can’t forget about this scene: (video provided on the right side of article) Source: http://www.slashfilm.com/sam-raimi-spider-man-3-awful/ |
|
3. Captain America (1990) This is not the attractive Steve Rogers we see in the recent Avengers movies. There’s no Chris Hemsworth or S.H.I.E.L.D. No, in this absolute masterpiece from the 1990s starred Matt Salinger. You know Matt Salinger? He was in two episodes of 24, Revenge of the Nerds, and a bunch of movies you’ve never heard of for good reasons. This movie was incredibly low budget and painful to watch. I only got about an hour into this movie until I couldn’t take it anymore. If you want a more thorough run down of the film that is much more entertaining than mine, check out the Nostalgia Critics video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inhjOz_5AYk) And a clip from the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mujE6PxevCc |

2. Batman and Robin (1997) This film was filled with awful acting from amazing actors. The entire thing was like a bad fever dream filled with ice puns (courtesy of Mr. Freeze). Like Spiderman 3, this movie was on Empire’s ‘Worst Movies Ever’ list. Only Batman and Robin took home the gold, ranking as number 1. With an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, there’s not much praise I can give. Even George Clooney, a man who I hold close to my heart as one of my favorite actors, completely flopped as Batman. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alicia Silverstone, and Uma Thurman all teamed up to create this mindless movie that tries just a bit too hard to be funny. Yes, I know I’m being harsh on these movies, but watching these took up more than 12 hours of my life, so I have a right to be bitter. I couldn’t find a good clip, but if you still, for some reason, want to take a look at it, check out the trailer, which is pretty unbearable as well. |
1. Superman IV: Quest for Peace) I’m not even going to say much about this one. It was so terrible. It was a wreck and I absolutely loved it. Instead, I’m going to give you two links. You can see for yourself (already provided on the right side of article). Highlights include: the terrible effects, the dialogue, and the moon fight. Yes, moon fight. Disgraceful mention: The Last Airbender I did not put this on the list because it is not technically a superhero movie. But this movie was a train wreck that crashed into my childhood. A terrible, terrible live action version of the fantastic Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, I generally like to pretend this movie doesn’t exist. But every time I think of a terrible movie, this is the first thing to come to my mind. For goodness sake, it got a 6% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The characters were nothing like the show and not likeable at all, and we’re not even going to talk about how awful the acting was. M. Night Shyamalan is the only one to blame for this disaster. (Side note: every movie on this list of terrible movies received higher ratings than this one did. That’s kind of sad.) By: Emma (MYP5 |

Hi-Shadow Thought
On the crest of a small hill overlooking the Village of Talta, resting in the shade of a single large tree, was a boy of about 12 years old, he had long spiky brown hair that was dressed in jagged ponytail and was currently wearing a blue shirt, black shorts that reached down past his knees and hung just above his ankles, brown boots, blue socks and matching blue sweat-bands. His eyes were closed and he had a relaxed expression on his face, as he felt the breeze brush past his face. He stayed still like that for another few minutes before he heard footsteps, and slowly opened his eyes before sitting up and stretching and turning to look at the new comer. She was about the boy's age with chestnut hair done in a pony tail, with a thick strand coming down and partially covering her right eye. She had olive green eyes, and was wearing wearing a blue dress tied with a yellow sash around her waist. She frowned and placed her hands on her hips giving the boy a stern look.
“Shu, what're you doing here napping? You were supposed to meet me an hour ago!” She demanded crossing her arms and tapping her foot. Shu stared at her through half-lidded eyes, before stretching his soar muscles and turned back to his friend this time with a smile on his face. “Oh c'mon Kluke. Look how beautiful it is today, plus it's Talta's best season now. Sit and relax”. Shu said. Kluke stared at Shu for a while longer before finally sighing heavily and nodding before lying down next him. They stayed like that for a few more hours before the pair finally got up and stretched their muscles and looking towards the sun which was now high in the sky signalling the afternoon. Shu heaved himself up and dusted the grass off his close before turning to Kluke. “Listen, Kluke I'm gonna go down to the market place to buy some more steel, for the forge. My project's almost finished and by the evening this'll blow your socks off”! Shu exclaimed before he took off down the hill and towards the market place.
Shu weaved in and out of the crowded markets as he made his way towards the Metal-Smith, he brushed against someone's shoulder and nearly stumbled before turning his head to meet the blue eyes of another boy his age. He had steel brown hair and wore a white, shirt, charcoal pants and a long green coat with a sword strapped to his back. Shu adopted a neutral look on his face and the two stared each-other down silently, before Shu turned around and continued to make his way to the Smith until a voice stopped him. “That's it?” Shu stopped and turned his head around with the same neutral look on his face as he turned to face the boy. “What?' Shu asked calmly turning around fully and placing his hands in his pockets. The taller boy scowled and crossed his arms. “You just bumped into someone and you're not even going to apologize”? He demanded,
Now it was Shu's turn to scowl and clenched his hands into fists in his pockets. “Look, I didn't bump into you and you didn't bump into me, we bumped into each-other at the same time, so I don't have time to mess around.” Shu growled out and made to leave when the boy stopped him yet again. “I think you need to learn to respect your betters kid”. He said while shifting himself so he was fully facing Shu. Shu himself narrowed his eyes and glared at the taller boy. An almost unnoticeable wind seemed to blow in-between the two and Shu allowed a small but noticeable smirk to cross his features as the taller boy's eyes widened in surprise. “You...you're a...” He trailed off as Shu nodded his smirk only growing. “That's right I have power too, buddy. But I'm not gonna waste his or my own time with you.” Shu said just as an older girl who looked about 20 with long silver hair and a red bandanna with a skull on it. He had a sword strapped to her him and maroon gloves, with a blue top teal short shorts and black stockings and brown boots with a fur cuff at the top of both and blue eyes.
She looked at Shu and Shu looked back at her, with an even face. She suddenly smiled and placed a hand on her hip, but Shu could tell it was teasing. “Making new friends already Jiro”? She asked the boy in question causing him to whirl around to face her. “Friends!? Not with this guy, no way in hell”! He all but yelled catching some of the other villagers attention. The woman smirked and turned her attention to Shu who stood their quietly watching the scene with an amused smirk. “I didn't think I'd meet anyone with that kind of power in them. And I can tell you've already unlocked it and used it for a while. Haven't you”. She said her soft voice, causing Shu to feel something he hadn't felt in a long time. He nodded his head. “That's right. But before I tell you more, I need to know who it is I'm talking to”. Shu said evenly. She nodded and smiled. “My name is Zola, and this is my travelling companion Jiro”. She gesturing the other boy. Shu nodded his head. “Zola, Jiro just give me a second here to grab some more steel and then we can head over to my house to discuss things. Shu said. He then walked in front of the stand and after exchanging a few words with the shop keeper and bought some more blue ore before turning and motioning for the two travellers to follow him. As the group walked through the crowded marketplace, Zola noticed how most of the shops in this side of the market seem to be specializing in forms of weaponry and self defence, be it swords, spears guns or bombs. Other shops held food, or building materials of all kinds, it almost seemed like the village was preparing for battle, or something to that effect.
After walking through the crowded streets for a few minutes, they finally arrived, at residential area of the village, walked along for another few minutes before they stopped in front of a large two story house, that also doubled as a forge. Jiro looked at the house indifferently while Zola allowed a small smirk to grace her features. Shu gripped both of his bags in his right hand as he dug his left hand into his pocket and dug out a key, before slipping it into the slot and unlocking the door, he placed the key on a small desk next to the door before making his way down the hall with Zola and Jiro tow, set down the bags and brought out three glasses and a pitcher filled with ice water, he set the cups down and poured water into them and passed them along before he set the pitcher on the table and adopted a calm look on his face and leaned back in his chair and sipped a bit of his water before speaking. “So, what brings you two, to Talta Village? If I you've come for sight seeing I can tell you now, it really doesn't have much to see, except for some ruins in high hills outside the village”. Shu said calmly.
Zola perked at hearing the word “Ruins”. While she was indeed happy that the ruins that she had been looking for, were here she was even more surprised when she ran into one of the few individuals she had been looking for. And she was especially surprised when she could practically feel the power radiating off of him, like a fountain it was almost unreal. Zola leaned back in her chair, and crossed her arms. “Well to be honest Shu all we're really here for is to check out those ruins you mentioned”. Zola said. On the outside she was calm, but on the inside, she was actually hoping Shu would buy the pitiful excuse. Shu arched an eyebrow. “So what you guys are archaeologists? Sorry if I sound a little doubtful, but the ruins I mentioned are only a very small set of ruins, and I know for a fact that archaeologists don't carry around swords on their own, if they have the money they only hire guards, also I'm not as stupid as I look”. Shu said crossing his arms and smirking at Zola's surprised look.
Zola stared at Shu for a while before she finally chuckled in defeat. “Very well Shu. The reason Jiro and I have come to this villiage is”- Before Zola could continue, the house suddenly shook violently and the trio heard a very loud explosion. Shu's eyes widened before he suddenly adopted a serious expression on his face, he leaped from his chair and hurried out the door, the clouds had garnered a red tint, as villagers rushed towards the source carrying weapons of all kinds, Shun looked towards the sky and saw something he had hoped he would never see again. Large shark shaped ships quickly flew towards the village only confirming Shu's suspicions...Gran Kingdom was attacking.
Shun instantly bolted away from Zola and Jiro and towards the battle surprising the two. Jiro turned his head to Zola to ask if they should help only to see, an empty space. He looked around until he spotted Zola running after Shu and into the heat of the battle. Sighing heavily Jiro took off after her grumbling.
Shu could here the sounds of battle getting closer until he appeared in the village square. Calling it a war-zone would be the understatement of the year, all around him soldiers and villagers were fighting to the bitter end, the ships over heard shooting huge energy pellets and destroying much of the ground. He felt someone grab his wrist and nearly pull him along until he pulled back and saw a soldier gripping his arm tightly. “Alright kid you're coming with us”! He growled, Shu mere glared at him and suddenly jumped up and slammed his boot in his face, knocking the soldier to the ground. Another one of the ships landed, and armies of robots with tri-horned heads, narrow slits for eyes and mouths, huge spherical bodies and thin arms and legs came pouring out of the ship, Shu backed away slightly and growled out gritting his teeth until he heard a strange hum and looked up just in time to see two yellow energy beams, fly above his head and released a huge explosion destroying a large amount of the robots. Shu turned his head around and saw both Zola and Jiro standing there with two huge shadow creature looming behind them. Zola's shadow took the form of a dark purple killer bat, with two long hoop earrings in both it, he was holding a sword with a golden hilt embedded with jewels and a long silver arrow pointed blade. Jiro's shadow took the form of a Minotaur, with teal coloured fur, and a muscular torso with, two golden bracelets on both arms.
Zola turned her blue eyes to Shu and smiled. “Thought you could use the help”. She said winking at him. Shu smiled, but then heard a deep laugh behind him, and turned his head to face a large brute of a man with a horned helmet, wearing armour with the gran kingdom symbol on it and a billowing cape, and a sword strapped to his back, he had a shaved face and beady eyes and was grinning maniacally, behind him was a furred army green goblin shadow, carrying a battle axe, behind him, was Kluke who stood in front of a group of children protectively, the goblin shadow lifted his axe and was prepared to swing it down when he suddenly felt a pulse of power and a blue glow shone in the corner of his eye. Turning his head around everyone stopped when they noticed that Shu was surrounded by a bluish white glow, Shu snapped his head up and glared at the captain, and suddenly let loose a loud war cry. “HAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH”!!!! The glow suddenly grew brighter until it turned into a solid blue aura and Shu's shadow began to stretch backward and enlarge, surprising everyone present except, Kluke, Fushira and the rest of the villagers. The ground seemed to, shake as Shu's shadow began to take form and solidify until in it's place was a muscular, dark blue dragon, with curved horns, with golden rings on his horns, red eyes just like all shadows except his seemed to be glowing ever so slightly and he had his massive arms crossed. He snapped them up and laid eyes on the goblin and suddenly smirked before he reared back and released a deep throated roar that shook the entire village, releasing a shock wave that caused everyone to stop what they were doing.
“Well it's about damn time Shu. I was getting bored with all the crappy monsters outside”. The Mighty Blue Dragon growled cracking his knuckles, as he let lose a feral grin, making his wielder smile and shake his head. “Well you'll definitely won't be bored now, it won't be much of a challenge for you big guy, but at least you won't be bored”. Shu said smirking. Blue Dragon crossed his arms over his massive chest and looked at his wielder quizzically before focusing his attention on the Goblin shadow, Blue Dragon uncrossed his arms and clenched his fists tightly leaning forward as if ready to pounce. (Quick note. All attacks will be in bold writing) “Okay Blue Dragon, lets kick things off with Terra Hammer”! Shu called out forming a flame-like blue aura around, himself. Blue dragon growled and clenched his right fist tightly surrounding it in a bubble of energy, before, smashing down onto the ground, right as the captain, jumped out of the way, the attack causing a miniature earthquake as several sharp rocks, burst out of the ground. “Alright fine, boy. Goblin Flame”! The captain called, his shadow releasing a large sphere of flames, and throwing it towards Shu and Blue Dragon. The shadow grunted before, smashing his fist into the attack, causing sparks to appear before he managed to deflect it where it sailed harmlessly into the mountains, surprising the captain. “Shu, I'm getting bored, lets finish this”. Blue Dragon growled causing Shu to smile and nod. “Shu! Here, catch”! Fushira called grabbing his attention. Shu turned towards his grandfather, just as he threw a sheathed sword towards Shu. The boy caught it and unsheathed it, revealing a deep blue blade with a black gilded hilt, and leather, wrapped handle. Shu looked at his grandfather in surprise who nodded causing Shu to smirk.”Thanks grandpa”! Shu called making Fushira smirk and nod.
Shu then began to draw power surrounding himself in a blue flame-like aura, before unsheathing the sword and, positioning it next to him, focusing his energy in the blade, the blue aura stretching outward and covering the sword as well, causing Shu and Blue Dragon to close their eyes, until their power was at it's peak and they snapped their eyes and spoke in unison. “OMEGA SLASH”!! They bellowed before rushing toward the captain who in turn did the same, there was a slash, as they crossed over from each other and both stood, still, until the captain clutched his side and as blood, splashed out before he lost consciousness, causing, his shadow to dissipate. Shu breathed a sigh of relief, and sheathed his sword before turning to glare at the remaining soldiers. “Your captain's been defeated, take him and leave Talta village and never come back, Shu growled, with Blue Dragon smirking feral manner showing his teeth and crossing his arms, making him look even more threatening. Shu heard footsteps and turns his head to see Kluke running up to him, as a large Phoenix like shape fades back into her regular shadow. Blue Dragon dispels himself, just as Kluke grips Shu in a tight hug. “Well, that was quite a show, Shu”. Zola said as she and Jiro walked up to them dispelling their own shadows. “But you do realize that Gran Kingdom, will attack again, especially now that they know, about your Shadow”. She explained placing one hand on her hip. Shu's face suddenly turned seerious as he turned to Zola fully. “Yeah, Zola I know”. He said looking at her seriously.
“However I do have a way we can prevent that from happening, you see, the real reason Jiro and I came to this village was because we were seeking out the wielder of the Blue Dragon Shadow, because we plan to form a rebellion against the leader of Gran Kingdom, Nene. I assume you know of the legend of the Seven Soldiers of Light”? She asked causing Shu and Kluke to shake their heads in confirmation. Zola then continued. “Nene has been actively hunting all the possible descendants of the soldiers, for what reason I don't know, but I do know however that his soldiers will most definitely report what happened here today. That's why I'm asking, will you two join us”? She asked. Shu crossed his arms and looked at the ground in thought and was about to respond until he heard someone speak for him. “Of course they'll join you”. Fushira said walking up to them surprising the four of them. “Grandpa? What're you doing”? Shu demanded turning around fully to face him. Fushira smiled and placed both hands on his grandson's shoulders. “Shu, you were the one who convinced us to fight back against Gran Kingdom, and you and Kluke have been defending this village for two years. And I think your parents, would want you to take this journey and see the world. And finally defeat Nene, too”. Shu looked at him in shock as he handed both him and Kluke backpacks, before turning to Zola.
“Take care of them Zola, they're family to me through blood and friendship, understand”? He said seriously to which Zola nodded. “Of course Fushira”. With that the group of four made their way towards the gate and walked out, but not before Shu turned around. “Grandpa, I'll be back before you know it! I promise”! Shu yelled as Fushira yelled back. “Take care Shu, and good luck”! And with that the four of them walked along the hard dirt path towards a new adventure.
Finally! I am so glad I finally finished, this I have been working on this for such a long time. I spend about a week on it so I really hope you guys enjoy this and remember to leave feedback! Second chapter is coming up soon!
