There is christmas movies. There is monster films, there are animated films and also musicals. Then there is the ultimate - and probably the only one - combination, Nightmare Before Christmas. Tim Burton (story/producer), Henry Selich (director) and Danny Elfman (compositor) works terrifyingly good together to create this slightly dark, charming fairytale that will please both children and adults.
The story follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King. He is the creative genius behind Halloween, designing each year to be scarier and more horrifying than the last. However, deep inside he feels that his life is lacking meaning and he longs for something more than the familiar horrors of Halloween Town. A longing he could not understand until he stumbles into Christmas Town and sees happiness and cheer, the likes he has never witnessed before. Having finally worked out what Christmas is all about, Jack decides to kidnap Santa and make himself the new king of Christmas Town so that he can have the happiness of Christmas. However, the others in the towns realize the significant consequences that this disruption of the norm will have as Jack's evil nature proves harder to overcome than he thought.
In an age where Disney dominates the world of of 'animations that please both children and adults' it is easy to forget that over a decade ago, Tim Burton delivered this delightful family film using a much more traditional animation style and a huge amount of imagination. I think it’s nice to have something different out there. The basic plot is a great little fantasy with a dark heart, that makes it so much more enjoyable, just because it has that edge to it. Nevertheless, ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is filled with warmth and happiness - especially from the protagonist Jack Skellington - just not the traditional kind. It is a musical so it has a lot of catchy and fun songs throughout the film. The voice actors were great and in my opinion they really succeeds to incorporate the characters they give a voice to.
The effort that evidently have been put down to make this film is admirable and the small details in the background are stunning. It’s a timeless visual masterpiece that has a lot of charming details like vampires with umbrellas to look at. For me personally ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ have a lot of nostalgia to it since I have watched it year after year always around Halloween time.
Overall, this is a very short but very enjoyable film that will please both children and adults at the same time (although can be too scary for the youngest ones) and never ignores one side of the audience over the other. Both groups will appreciate the dark fairy tale, the clever songs, the darkly imaginative animation and the comic sense of humour, making this a family film that deserves to be remembered and watched ideally around Halloween or Christmas.

Rainbow Snapchat Filter halloween Makeup
Halloween is right around the corner and you probably already started thinking about costume ideas. This is a very easy and affordable face painting idea for those of you who like to leave things for the last minute or just want something different to dress as this halloween. Everyone has probably seen the loved and well-known rainbow snapchat filter. This costume incorporates the filter in an imaginative way.
Materials
· Blush · White and black eyeliner · False eyelashes · Tweezers · Face paint in colours of the rainbow · Soft brush · White shirt (Optional) Steps: Step 1: Start by applying blush on your nose and cheeks. Step 2: Apply a thick line of white eyeliner under your bottom lashes. Step 3: Using a black eyeliner, outline the white line you drew. This will be like a new lash line. Draw a new line by connecting the white line with your upper lashes. (See first picture for reference) Step 4: Apply glue to the false lashes and place them on the black outline and your natural lashes using tweezers. Step 5: Apply your red face paint on to your brush then draw a wavy line from your bottom lip to your collar line .You can extend the line by continuing it on a white shirt. Step 6: Repeat step five six more times but using these different colours in the following order; orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue and purple. Make sure to leave no space between the lines. Step 7: After drawing the lines, paint small dots on the bottom of the rainbow. They will represent splashes of colour. Make sure they are coordinating with the coloured above. For example, if you are drawing dots under the red line, draw dots in the colour red. (See second picture for reference) Step 8: Draw faint circles anywhere on the lines. The circles should have a dot somewhere in the middle. Try to distribute the circles throughout the rainbow. This will represent bubbles. Step 9: Apply final touches by drawing four white stars, random white dots and cross shaped designs. Step 10: Finish off the costume by wearing all white clothing. |
I think this is a great idea for halloween, it is simple and unique and incorporates the well known and beloved snapchat filter. It is a great alternative to the traditional halloween costumes . You only need a few materials you would probably have in your home to accomplish this look. I would love to try out this look as a fun and creative costume for halloween. This look can be done on both boys and girls.
