Around ICS
Today on the ICS news, we have a lot going on. There are bake sales, fundraisers and parties. Here is more information on each of them.
Wear It Pink was last Tuesday and I think that we had a lot of great success. Wear It Pink was planned to raise awareness of breast cancer. There were many activities this week, for instance bake sales and ping pong tournaments. There was a lot of success at the bake sale with lots of customers and baked goods. Baked goods included donuts, cookies and other cakes.
Next week, we will have a Halloween party and then it is half term break. During the party, there will be a door decorating competition and then we will have a cat walk. After the catwalk, each form will have time together. At the end of the day, we will have a whole school assembly run by Aryam.
UPDATE ON HALLOWEEN COMPETITION
MYP3 won the door decorating competition. Sulieman won the pumpkin carving. I had to do something that I have never done before; eat a pie with only my face. Aryam from DP1 organised the events and set up the treats. Everyone enjoyed the party.

Product Review
Everyone knows that in our school whether it's during the morning, 1st lunch or 2nd lunch there are always students who love to play table tennis. That is why I find it cool that the 2 in 1 book can be used as a table tennis racket. Which means that there are two uses for it. You can write with it during class and then play with it during break. This is cool because it also comes with a scoring chart and a book with a net on it, so you're not only able to play with a table tennis table but you can play anywhere you like. This is useful because now a days a lot of students are bringing their own rackets which tend to take up space in your bag that is why by having these books you can kill 2 birds with one stone. I believe this is fun and useful especially since our school is so fond of table tennis.

World Wide News
In the spirit of Halloween, I am going to express my concerns over the ‘killer clown craze’. This latest trend been a significant issue all over the United States, but now it has even reached the United Kingdom.
These ‘killer clowns’ believe that they are innocently pranking people. However, scaring, stalking, and threatening strangers is hardly a prank. These so-called pranks are dangerous and can very likely lead to post-traumatic stress. It is also very much illegal for these ‘killer clowns’ to be walking around with weapons such as knives, chainsaws, and more.

These so-called pranks are dangerous and can very likely lead to post-traumatic stress. It is also very much illegal for these ‘killer clowns’ to be walking around with weapons such as knives, chainsaws, and more.
On Monday October 17, one of these ‘killer clowns’ equipped with a machete threatened two teenage girls who were walking alone in Suffolk. This was during the evening time, and the girls managed to escape the clown’s creepy clutches, unscathed, though quite shaken. Although the police searched the area thoroughly, no such clown was found.
Nevertheless these girls were quite lucky to remain safe and uninjured after the clown attacked them. Some of these clowns have proven to be seriously dangerous under the disguise of their masks. On October 9, Simon Chinery, was stabbed by a clown wielding a ten inch blade. The ‘killer clown’ has left this man, who is a father to a nine-year-old boy, to be eternally incapacitated since he now has permanent damage in four of his right hand’s ligaments. This proves that these ‘killer clowns’ are not innocently pranking people, but instead they are actually causing permanent damage to people, whether a mental or physical damage. The everlasting effect of this attack is shown in Chinery’s heartbreaking statement, “This attack has ruined my life – I am disabled from this and cannot return to the trade and job which I love.”

Another woman, Delcia Haskett, lives in Walsall, West Midlands, expresses the worry and concern she feels towards her grandchildren due to their growing fear of these ‘killer clowns’. Haskett says, “They won't go out and play. We've got to go with them everywhere. You don't know who's behind those masks, do you really? It could be some psycho." I completely agree with Haskett because, just as she said, you will never be able to tell the identity of these ‘killer clowns’, which also means that you will never be able to know what they are capable of. A serial killer could easily impersonate a ‘killer clown’ by simply wearing a clown costume.
Police officers all over Britain are urging people not to join this ‘killer clown craze’. Gloucestershire Police are warning people and telling them that anyone trying to imitate these ‘killer clowns’ will be arrested for carrying or using weapons, no matter what their original intentions are, including the usual excuse of ‘it was only a prank’.
Between the 7th and 10th of October, in Kent alone, there have been 59 reports of ‘killer clowns’. Additionally, Thames Valley had 14 ‘killer clown’ reports within 24 hours! What has the human race come to if ‘pranking’ is now the same as frightening, threatening, and permanently injuring one another?

How many days can I carry on running?
365 days,24 hours,60 minutes.
How many times has a clock stopped ticking?
A clock without its batteries is a clock without purpose
A human without a purpose is effectively useless.
My head told me that I was lost
I had strayed away from the main herd
Lost in society.
Isolated from society.
Different from society.
I was a target
There was no choice.
My exclusion served a stained plate
A mark.
There was nowhere to hide.
I ran with the wind
Past the meadows
Past the Ghettos
Past Leyton Valley Secondary School
Was this a failure of reminiscence?
Was this me giving into self-deprecation?
Was this self-deprivation?
I was the boy in the playground
I was the only child in the playground
The driving seat had once garnered favour upon my soul.
It looked earnestly the other way, rejecting any entry routes
Rejecting even the winds of forced entry
There was no turning back
The driving seat had turned around
The future. The future was non-existent
Striking no relevance. Even the clouds of the future had gathered together forming multiple layers of a robust shield.
Was it some sort of encryption?
No, the clouds had rejected my existence, individuality as a person
The clouds looked down upon my failings.
All I did was fail.
There was no hope
There is no hope
Death called me
Death awaited me.
The future was empty
The future was a gray area of speculation
Distress.
Anxiety.
I should have been dead already
Mother Earth had taken pity on me
Was I right into believing this?
Right up until the very end Mother Earth had abhorred me.
The plants I watered and watched bloom had now fallen.
Once getting a whiff of the air surrounding men the had shrunken in scale and strength.
The roots had blackened and withered away.
The mighty plants had fallen
The seeds that I had sowed had become infertile
I was a little lamb lost in a bear’s playground
I turned to my trusty and reliable friend alcohol.
Alcoholism grew hands which welcomed me.
WOW! I had some joyful moments. They soon fizzled away like a "sugar rush"
Not only did I drink alcohol.
I gulped it.
I lavished it.
I craved it.
I turned into two halves
You could say I was the typical "Hollywood Double Life".
In front of the cameras, I hid everything
My Troubles
My doubts
My anxieties
I had lied.
I aligned myself with many of the greatest actors and musicians of all time who had led a clean, moral life.
Amy Winehouse
Macaulay Culkin
I struggled.
To cope.
The man eats man society ate me for dinner with room to spare.
I stood on a busy highway for a few seconds
Nothing wrong there you might ask?
I wasn't trying to cross the road
Nor was I going out of my way to obstruct traffic.
I am a martyr.
The rest is history

Short Story
It was yet another busy day at work. The city of New York bustled with people rushing to one place and then another. As usual, I drove my yellow cab home as the day was coming to an end.
As I drove the vehicle towards the driveway of my house, I saw a dark silhouette standing in front of the front door. I felt my heartbeat speeding up as I saw the peculiar figure reached out its withered arm to twist the door knob. Alas, its attempts in entering my domain failed since I previously locked the door before going to work. Despite the desperate voices that screamed in disapproval, I subconsciously moved towards the looming figure. As the distance between us started to decrease, the once blurry blob of darkness morphed into a body belonging to a girl; a very, very skinny girl. Its features terrified me to death. Burnt face, jaw hanging loosely on its head and blood, it’s everywhere; pooling around its feet and dripping from its garment.
I know I should’ve run away as soon as possible, I know how these situations would turn out. I watched too much horror movies to know all of this stuff. I know. Nonetheless, I inched closer to the girl as if I was wrapped with an invisible rope that pulled me towards her. Fear began to bubble up inside me, choking me and ridding me of my breath. The muscles in my body tensed as I saw the girl turning around to meet my gaze. “Daddy! I’ve been waiting for you!” It grabbed my hand, ushering me inside. I live alone.

Halloween Music Playlist
Halloween is probably everyone's favourite time of the year. I mean who doesn't like free candy? But what is Halloween without music ? I put together a little Halloween playlist for everyone who loves music and Halloween.
2. Kidnap the Sandy Claws - Nightmare Before Christmas The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie about Halloween by Tim Burton. The Films soundtrack is quite catchy and known worldwide. The song “This is Halloween” is known to be the “theme song’ of Halloween. The song’s lyrics tells what happens on the night of Halloween and also talks about all the monsters children are afraid of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqSD_Wj5EQE 4. Thriller" – Michael Jackson Michael Jackson was and still is an extremely popular pop star. The video for the song “Thriller” is basically dead people dancing which connects to monsters and of course, halloween. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIx_HbmRnQY 5. Ghostbusters -Fall Out Boy The movie series Ghostbusters is liked by a lot of people and its theme song is extremely catchy. It’s lyrics are quite self explanatory. In 2016 a new Ghostbusters movie came out and so did a new soundtrack. The theme song was re made by Fall Out Boy (a punk-rock band). Some people find it better some people think it’s terrible considering they feel dedicated to the original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AQ44nPrRTM 6. Adam’s Family Theme song The adam’s Family was a well known Tv show in the 1960’s. In 1991 there was a movie made related to them. Their theme song quite the funky song but if you listen to the lyrics it might change your mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6QzbvH-ZNo&list=PLCOyq_mFipmIvRTYLmSH0k99hm_E4NSVG&index=16 I hope everyone will have a nice break and halloween and don’t forget to eat the neighbors candy. Sports : The Champion's League
The Champion's League is back after a short break and in the last two days we had some great matches. One of them was Barcelona against Manchester City, these two teams love playing against each other in the champion’s league, especially Barcelona because they always win over Manchester City. Yesterday on the 19th of October 2016, Manchester City had the chance to win against Barcelona for the first time but they weren’t even close. 3 goals for Messi and one from Neymar (missed penalty) easily won Manchester City at the Nou Camp (Barcelona’s stadium). Man of the match was obviously Lionel Messi with amazing goals; before the match Stones (Manchester’s City defender) said: “I am not scared of Messi”. Well, are you not scared of him now Mr. Stones? If we look at the other teams such as Real Madrid, PSG, ARSENAL, ATLETICO MADRID and BAYERN MUNICH (who won their matches in the last two days) they didn’t play against a team like Manchester City.
The scores:
The scores:
What did we have: lots’ of goals, comebacks, hat-tricks heroes and all of these in two days, amazing!
